Career
John trained with a leading commercial firm in Newcastle Upon Tyne where he remained for a year post-qualification. He then relocated to Cumbria in 1989 and quickly became a partner and head of commercial in a large newly formed (by a merger) Cumbrian practice. After the firm de-merged John then left Cumbria to work in a niche commercial legal practice in the north-west where he was a partner between 1993 and 1996. For a mixture of business and professional reasons, John returned to Cumbria in late 1996 becoming a partner in Burnetts in Carlisle before deciding to set up Baines Wilson at the beginning of 1999.
John is married and has three children. He is a keen fisherman and is interested in virtually all sports.
