HMRC have confirmed that the SSP Rebate Scheme will go live on 26 May 2020, enabling certain employers to reclaim coronavirus related SSP.
The scheme is open to employers in respect of up to two weeks’ SSP paid to employees unable to work on or after 13 March 2020 because they had/have coronavirus or were/are self-isolating and unable to work from home. The scheme also covers up to two weeks’ SSP paid to employees who were shielding from 16 April 2020 providing they have a letter from the NHS or a GP telling them to stay at home for at least 12 weeks.
The scheme is only available to employers who had less than 250 employees across all PAYE schemes on 28 February 2020.
The current Guidance in relation to the scheme is available at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-back-statutory-sick-pay-paid-to-employees-due-to-coronavirus-covid-19 (although note that Gov keeps moving pages……..)
