Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced the extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to the end of October. It will remain in its current form until the end of July, at which point the Government is planning to amend it so that furloughed employees can work part-time, with employers being asked to pay a percentage towards the salaries of their furloughed staff.

The Chancellor said that full details of the amended scheme will be published by the end of May.

Separately, guidance has been published for making workplaces “COVID-19 Secure” for employees to return to work. Separate guidance exists for different types of workplace and can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19
