West Cumbria Carers has funding to provide Business to Business Support for your company to help you to manage working carers in your work force.
This is a fantastic opportunity for your business to get some FREE help to provide great new services and management tools or improve your current practice.
Why is it so important for you to take advantage of this offer? At any one time 10% of your workforce will be caring for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.
We know that caring for a sick, disabled or frail loved one is not a 9 – 5 role and that many of the carers in your work force will really struggle to juggle their job with growing caring responsibilities.
That means that without the right management practice and support as many as:
- 20% will leave their job
- And even more will reduce their working hours
Our experience shows that the peak age for working and caring is between the ages of 45 – 64 years. You will know that this age group will include many of your longest serving staff who are valued team members with great skills that your business cannot afford to lose.
We are already working with local business leader Iggesund Paperboard (Workington) Ltd. Val Warren their Human Resources Officer says:
‘We are working with West Cumbria Carers because we want to support our workforce and be known as a responsible and supportive employer. It makes good business sense, possibly reducing staff turnover, lowering recruitment costs and attracting and retaining mature skilled and experienced staff. In addition we hope that by supporting working carers in our workforce we can reduce absence rates and improve our productivity.’
