Baines Wilson has stepped in to enable Carlisle Youth Zone to provide a vital service to working parents who struggle to plug the gap between after school clubs and the end of their working day.
The majority of schools run Homework Clubs and After School Clubs, which generally finish around 5.00pm. The Early Bird Session run by CYZ is aimed at children between the ages of 7 to 11. The Session enables children to come straight from school to take part in a wide variety of activities including dance, football, cooking, arts and craft in a comfortable safe environment and with the provision of hot food.
The Early Bird Session has been in operation for 2 weeks and already has over 40 young people attending every Monday and Thursday between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
Commenting on this new provision Lynsey Buckle, Development Manager for CYZ said:
“The fact that we have such numbers attending in just two weeks is evidence of a need within the community to support those working parents who struggle to match their working hours with school and after school provision. With more funding we could open this up to even more young people as we know that we have just tapped the surface. Anyone who grew up as a latchkey kid will recognise this scenario. We cannot thank Baines Wilson enough for helping us start this important provision and would ask any other businesses keen to see it expanded to give us a ring”.
John Wilson, Managing Partner at Baines Wilson said: “We are delighted to support CYZ and for our financial support to be used to ensure the creation of this vital early bird service to help children and families.
CYZ is an amazing facility and one which thoroughly deserves the support of local Carlisle businesses”.
