Mike Wood

Position: Head of Private Client Services

Main Areas of Work:

Mike handles all descriptions and values of property, ranging from the sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold residential houses and flats and mortgages across England and Wales, through to the sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold commercial property, including agricultural land, residential flat schemes, building land, development sites, offices, warehouses, factories, nightclubs and pubs - in fact, anything to do with land and buildings.

Mike was quick to identify the demand for specialist legal advice needed by residential buy to let landlords.

Mike likes to get results and happily takes on difficult and complex work where knowledge, energy and patience are required, and he often works with estate agents to solve property issues prior to marketing.

Mike has a loyal following and is still working for several clients including local businesses who first instructed him many years' ago.

Career:

Mike has spent his entire career working in Carlisle, which has given him enviable and invaluable local knowledge.

In 1962, at the tender age of 16, Mike started as a trainee with Clutterbuck Trevenen and Mawson, dealing in all aspects of law but later specialising in non-contentious matters. He qualified in 1967 as an Associate of the Institute of Legal Executives.

He joined McKennas in 1969, where he remained for 27 years, dealing with private and commercial property work at the highest level, and the preparation of Wills and administration of estates. His reputation as a knowledgeable and hard working lawyer was established during this period. He joined Burnetts in 1996, as Head of Conveyancing, where he first met John Wilson, who had also recently joined as a partner.

Mike joined Baines Wilson in January 2010.

Personal:

Mike is married with three grown up daughters and eight grandchildren. With work and family he has no time for hobbies (or so he says)!
