The Baines Wilson LLP Employment Team took part in the Employers Bridge Conference 2011 in Kendal on 21 July 2011. The theme for the conference was Mental Health and Wellbeing for Cumbrian Businesses.

Mental Health and Wellbeing has an important part to play for both employers and employees in any successful business, reducing days lost to sickness and workplace absence. There are also legal implications if workplace issues are not handled appropriately, and this can be a major concern for employers.
A range of high quality speakers delivered information in the morning on the Government’s ongoing strategy to create healthy workplaces. The keynote speaker, Dame Carol Black (National Director for Health and Work for the Government), spoke about a new approach to work-related health services, after her review found that ill health was costing the country £100bn+ annually.
